There are two main reasons why the Autumn/Winter Collections are my favourite shows of the year. One, because who doesn’t love starting off the New Year with some new wardrobe inspirations. But more importantly, Winter fashion is no doubt one of the best seasons to dress for. See below for my favourite shows/top picks from this year’s Men’s Fashion Week in Milan.
ERMENEGILDO ZEGNA kicked off Milan’s Men’s Fashion Week last Saturday with a Winter wonderland theme. The white artificial snow covering the runway also played a great contrast against the clothing shown, making each piece pop, one after another. My top pick from the Autumn/Winter 2018 Collection is the abstract coat. I really love the dual tone used across the coat and believe this is one statement jacket every gentleman needs in his wardrobe.
It seems RALPH LAUREN really can’t do no wrong in my eyes. Because each season, I’m finding myself repeat the words “I Need That In My Life” several times a day. Which I guess is a clear indication on how they seem to nail each trend year after year. Of course, we all know suits and trench coats are sort of my thang, something I definitely love to rock during Winter. So you could imagine my face, when I saw the presentation for Ralph Lauren’s A/W 2018 Collection last Sunday.
Despite loving them all, I will list the navy blue double breasted trench and navy blue pea coat, as my top picks from this year’s Autumn/Winter Range. The gold buttons contrasted against the dark navy material further adds that extra detailing. Further ensuring the coats overflow with a sense of class and sophistication.
DOLCE & GABBANA says Winter is Coming…they really mean Winter is coming. Titled the King’s Angels, the new A/W collection oozed similarities to hit HBO show Game of Thrones. Even the King of the North (Kit Harrington) was spotted in the A-list audience. Observing each model walk down the runway wearing clothes that resembled that of which is worn on the show. Of course, the similarities stop with the fur coats and crowns as other inspirations resemble the attire of late Playboy founder, Hugh Hefner. My top pick from this collection goes to the monochrome robe style outfit pictured above. Long live King Hefner, I say. Long live.
NEIL BARRETT‘s show featured many items I could see myself rocking this Autumn/Winter seasons. Both the blue bomber jacket and camel trench coat pictured above were hands down my top picks from the show.
Another designer I’ve only just discovered and heard of during Milan’s Men’s Fashion Week this year was DIRK BIKKEMBERGS. The Belgian designer who’s show featured lots of colour proved to be following the latest trend, as both blue and yellow garments made a prominent appearance. Something I’ve seen dominate fashion since the 2017 Resort collections.
My top pick from the show goes to the blue trench coat pictured above. The stylish piece takes me back to Dion Lee’s Resort Collection last year, which saw one jacket identically similar. I love the strong blue with yellow lining inside and believe this is yet another statement jacket fit for any gender.
